Crispy Tofus with Sauce


  • 4 people


  • 1 block extra firm tofu
  • 2 jalapenos
  • 5 baby carrots
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 3 tsp hoison sauce
  • 1/2 tsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 inch of fresh ginger
  • cornstarch
  • pepper to taste
  • cayanne to taste
  • light oil


  • cut tofu into slabs
  • cut jalapeno into rings
  • quarter baby carrots
  • slice onion


  1. Heat enough oil to shallow fry over medium heat
  2. Put cornstarch on a plate and mix in the pepper and cayanne
  3. Cover slabs of tofu in cornstarch mixture
  4. Once the oil is hot add slabs of tofu in cooking each side until it is golden brown
  5. Once cooked place the tofu on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil
  6. Remove most of the oil from the pan leaving about a tablespoons worth
  7. Add veggeies into hot pan and cook until they soften
  8. Add in hoisen suace, soy sauce, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, and garlic into the pan and cook for about a minute
  9. Remove pan from heat and add in tofu slabs
  10. Lightly toss to cover in sauce.
  11. Serve on top of rice
